VASTU TIPS | ENTRANCE
Keep it well-Lit
Many homes have entrances that do not receive ample light, thereby making the area look dark, dingy and unwelcoming. An entrance like this creates a feeling of depression and brings in negative energy. Make sure you keep your entrance well lit. If the building that you stay in does not bring in light, make arrangements for artificial light; if structural changes are possible then an added window can help bring in illumination.
Keep it Clean
If you want to attract positive energies, you need to make sure that the entrance is always clean and well-dusted. Traditionally, our ancestors used to wash the front yard every single day for the same reason. Positive energies do not enter a premises that has a neglected entrance. Make sure you wipe the front area with water infused with rock salt at least once a week.
Place a Red Doormat
Red is an attractive and energising colour—it is believed to bring positive energies into the home. That’s why world over, the preferred colour for the welcome mat is red. It is even used for VIP’s—take the red carpet for instance.
VASTU TIPS | LIVING ROOM
Place your Furniture in the Right Way
Place heavy furniture such as your sofa set in the west or south-west direction of the living room. Most living areas have a television set or other electronic appliances, and it is advised to install them in the south-east part of the living room. If your dining space is also part of your living room, make sure it is situated in the east or south-east part of the room.
Colour it Right
There are specific colours for each room of the house that help trap positive energy. For the living room, paint the walls in lighter shades like light pink, white, cream, beige, floral white. Each of these are associated with different positive vibes such as purity, warmth, calmness, perfection, beauty, etc.
Discard Products with Bad Energies
Another important vastu tip is with regards to artworks. Paintings that depict negative scenes like a sinking ship, wars, a crying child, sadness, etc., can foster pain or sorrow in your mind and so one should avoid hanging such art in the living room or any other area of the home. Electronic appliances that are no longer working must be fixed or discarded so regularly check your wall clocks and home appliances. Broken photo frames, show pieces, mirrors with cracks should be discarded as well as they can bring bad luck. Nature-inspired art, open blue skies and horses are positive elements to have in the living room.
VASTU TIPS | BEDROOM
Ensure Peaceful Sleep
The bed must always be located in the south, west or south-west corner of the bedroom in a way that one’s head must also point toward the same direction. Use plain or light coloured bedsheets in the shades of pink, white or brown as they help ground and relax you after a hard day’s work. Avoid too many geometrical designs and blue / black coloured sheets in your bedroom. Switch off all electronic gadgets like laptops, cell phones, television, radio at least an hour before you sleep in order to avoid radiation in your space.
Declutter Your Space
Listening to very soft tunes just before sleeping is recommended to diffuse stress and align the body’s energies for drifting into a peaceful sleep. Burning a blend of rose and jasmine oil will help induce sleep and reduce insomnia. Make sure that there is no storage under or below the bed as it disrupts the energy field resulting in highly disturbed sleep.
Directions for Good Sleep
One must never have their head pointing toward the north during sleep. The prime reason being that north is a positive direction and the crown chakra above our head is also positive and when two positives interact, they give out a negative vibe. Sleeping in this direction leads to bad dreams and a drain in energy. One must also ensure that they are not sleeping in a position where there is a door in front or behind you as it is considered to be very inauspicious. This can lead to deterioration of health. If there are any mirrors or reflecting surfaces such as a TV screen, then it should be removed or covered up with cloth or paper. One must avoid seeing one’s own reflection while sleeping or while waking up from sleep.
